We know moving more can help improve mental and physical health, help with weight loss and to manage weight, improve muscle and bone health, help to meet new people and feel less isolated, can give people more energy, help to reduce pain, help with sleep quality and help with many health diseases.

We’re looking for a Move More Adult Instructor to help support islanders to be more active, healthier and happier.

About The Role

As a Move More Jersey Adult Instructor you will play a vital role in promoting and delivering the Move More Adult Referral and behavioural change programme. You will undertake planning and delivery of sessions in line with the Inspiring an Active Jersey Strategy. 

As part of the Move More Jersey Team, you will be responsible for increasing the activity levels of adults and families including those with long term conditions, sedentary behaviour patterns and those who are disengaged with physical activity. You will be required to work across the full range of Adult and family programmes including; 

  • Exercise classes 
  • Referral programme 
  • Triaging new clients 
  • Interventional 8 – 12 week programmes working with specific client groups and stakeholders 
  • Move More Walks / Move More Run Together / Move More Cycling and Cycle Without Limits programmes 
  • Community engagement events. This will include daytime, evening and some weekend work. 

As part of the team you will deliver programmes and activities which are engaging, fun and create a positive environment for all participants in a wide range of indoor and outdoors settings. 

You will work with the Move More team to maximise the resources of the Move More Adult Programmes to continually develop and improve the physical activity pathway for adults.

Skills You Will Bring

  • Educated to a minimum of PT Level 3 or equivalent and/or a national governing body qualification in Level 3 Exercise referral.
  • Demonstrate a progressive personal development programme of qualifications / training relevant to your career. 
  • Experience of planning and delivering outcome focused physical activity sessions which promote and support the improvement of healthy and active  lifestyles.
  • Experience of engaging with adults through sport and physical activity.
  • Have the vision, motivation, enthusiasm and ability to work with diverse groups of people including those who may be reluctant to engage in physical activity.   
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to demonstrate safe working practices in the delivery of physical activity programmes for adults.
  • Knowledge of adult safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also to use initiative and make independent decisions when appropriate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confident in dealing with all relevant stakeholders.
