Jersey charity ‘Together Making a Difference’ have been out to the Kurigram district of Bangladesh recently with cricket equipment donated by the Jersey Cricket Board.
The charity is working with partner agencies who have set up a temporary school whilst awaiting government clearance for a new school building project. The pupils and staff at the primary school were presented with a set of cricket equipment and immediately changed the day’s plans to include an impromptu cricket match – Bangladesh versus England!
The charity’s founder, Helen Wilson, said “To Bangladeshi children of whatever age, cricket just seems to be in their blood. The game was played in a very sporting manner and everyone was encouraging each other”.
