SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE SPORT HEALTH CHECK
New for 2025, the Safe and Sustainable Sport Health Check confirms minimum levels of recommended governance whilst also providing vital data and insight into the sport sector to benchmark progress and understand more about its future needs. Information will be used to improve the services and programmes offered to local sport organisations to support their growth and development.
Jersey Sport enforce these minimum operating and governance standards through this framework by providing local sport organisations with the support, resources, and training opportunities to achieve these recommended levels of good practice. We do this to drive continual improvement in governance and management standards for all local sport organisations and ensure we are diligent in funding safe and sustainable sport organisations.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE HEALTH CHECK
A traffic light system will be used to evaluate governance standards (Red, Amber, Green). Sport organisations must complete the annual Health Check, receiving an Amber or Green status to be eligible to apply to Jersey Sport funding opportunities in 2025.
Not-for-profit and charitable sport organisations* who achieved a Green Health Check status before 31 January 2025 received a £500 reward in recognition of their strong governance standards. A Green status also provides sport organisations with exclusive access to participating in Jersey Sport programmes, such as our Holiday Programmes; as well as being eligible to receive funding from Jersey Sport grant programmes, like the Sports Access Programme.
*Regretfully, profit-making sport businesses are ineligible to receive financial reward for achieving a Green Health Check status, but will gain essential access to Jersey Sport’s funding opportunities in 2025.
Sport organisations who achieve an Amber status will be eligible to access Jersey Sport funding opportunities, with conditions of award placed on any successful applications. Sport organisations are required to meet all conditions of award before grant awards will be released. Support is provided by Jersey Sport to meet and exceed requirements.
Sport organisations with Red rated governance will be unable to access Jersey Sport funding opportunities until improvements are made. The Jersey Sport Team will work with these organisations to support them to achieve any required improvements.

TO COMPLETE YOUR SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE SPORT HEALTH CHECK-
Create an account by logging in to the MEMBERS AREA on jerseysport.je
- Select the ‘APPLY FOR A GRANT’ icon to launch Jersey Sport’s online grants management system, SmartSimple.
- If you’re not already registered, under ‘New to the System?’’, select the grey ‘Register’ to create an account.
- Log into your account and select the ‘Health Check’ button on your home page to complete Jersey Sport’s Safe and Sustainable Sport Health Check.
Your Health Check will be reviewed by the Jersey Sport Officers and you will be notified of the status of your Health Check via email.
