Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club has become the 24th club in the island to be recognised by Jersey Sport’s Clubmark accreditation scheme.
Denise Richards from the JLDSC accepted the plaque from Constable Steve Pallett, the assistant minister with responsibility for sport, over the weekend.
To gain the award, teams and associations must be able to evidence a wide-range of documents and procedures including safeguarding training, volunteer policies, DBS (police) checks, coaching qualifications, risk assessments, first aid training and insurances. This gives all those in the club, and in particular parents of young athletes, the confidence that they are receiving excellent coaching from qualified staff and volunteers.
The Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club, which has been running for more than 40 years, is the latest to join our ever-growing Clubmark club. To find out more about them, visit their website.
