Jersey Archer Mollie Perrett was selected to shoot for Hampshire recently as part of the Junior County team in a match against Berkshire, at just 14 years old this was her first call up for the county.

The inter-counties match was held at Andover Archers who were hosting their first Junior Metrics Competition, an event they hope to run on an annual basis. Hampshire were victorious with a convincing win of 4727 to 4320 against the team from Berkshire.

Junior archers shoot at distances based on their age and, in Mollie’s case, this is the Metric 3 round for junior ladies under 16. This consists of 3-dozen arrows at each distance of 50, 40, 30 and 20 metres.

Mollie had an exceptional first distance which was a great confidence boost, she had personal bests at 2 distances and an overall PB for the round.

As well as the team win over Berkshire, Mollie also came 1st in the Metric 3 class and obtained her first official Junior Master Bowman score. Junior Master Bowman is the highest junior award available from Archery GB for archers under the age of 18 and to obtain it a junior archer needs to shoot 3 qualifying scores in a season at record status competitions.
