NextGen Jersey Sport are recruiting new members to join their dynamic team to become part of a new generation of sports journalists in Jersey. They’re looking for students aged 14 to 18 years old with a passion for media and sport, and those who may want to become a sports journalist of the future!
Working with experts from Hi-impact Consultancy, students will learn the skills required to record, edit, design and share content that will inspire young people across Jersey to engage in all of the outstanding sporting opportunities available to them in the island. Not only that, but they will gain opportunities to get behind the scenes access and attend some the island’s most exciting sporting events, to bring them to life through social media targeted at their peers.
Catriona McAllister, CEO of Jersey Sport, said “We’re really excited to be launching this initiative with Hi-impact to provide media training to students to help inspire the next generation of local sports journalists. Gaining this hands-on experience will help set local students apart from other college and university applicants, whilst educating and inspiring the young people of Jersey to try something new, take up a new sport or simply to get more active!”
The NextGen Jersey Sport team is looking for enthusiastic and passionate young individuals who will work as part of a larger team. Whether it’s design, interview technique or video editing, NextGen Jersey Sport aims to bring together a multitude of skills to form a strong and creative team who are dedicated to showcasing sport and activity in Jersey to the island’s youth.
Alan Thompson, Managing Director at Hi-impact said, “Hi-impact is delighted to be working with Jersey Sport to support the delivery of the NextGen media project. We witnessed first-hand at the Jersey Island Games back in 2015 the phenomenal impact that these kind of opportunities can have on the next generation, by giving them the digital skills and real life experiences working within sports media. NextGen Jersey Sport will engage youngsters from across the island, developing new skills and creating memories that they will carry forward with them into their future careers.”
Applications to join the NextGen Jersey Sport team are now open! We will also be at the Jersey Skills Show at Fort Regent on Friday 14 October, where you can talk to a member of the team to find out more.
