Jersey Sport make new appointment to help drive and inspire an active Jersey

Thursday 26 November 2020

Jersey Sport is delighted to announce the appointment of James Wileman, previously the Designate Deputy Chief of Police for the States of Jersey, to the new position of Head of Corporate Services.

As the lead agency delivering the Inspiring an Active Jersey Strategy, Jersey Sport has experienced significant growth. The organisation’s portfolio of programmes is constantly evolving and developing to meet the needs and demands of more people in Jersey who feel inspired to lead an active lifestyle.

Jersey Sport has also recently been contracted by the Government of Jersey to provide strategic support in the delivery of improved facilities, as part of the Inspiring an Active Jersey Strategy. The Government’s ambition is to develop good-quality and accessible sports facilities which encourage and enable islanders to be more physically active, and Jersey Sport’s CEO will be Programme Director for Government’s Sports Facilities Projects.

With the continual growth and development of the organisation, and the departure of its General Manager to the Jersey Football Association earlier this year, Jersey Sport has created the new position of Head of Corporate Services to bolster its senior management team and ensure the organisation continues to deliver across all areas of the Inspiring an Active Jersey Strategy.

Phil Austin, MBE, Chairman of Jersey Sport said, “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome someone of James’ calibre to Jersey Sport. As an experienced senior executive, he will help to drive the organisation forward whilst allowing Catriona McAllister, our CEO, to focus on her work as Programme Director of the Sports Facility Project. This is a hugely exciting period for sport and active living in Jersey, and James’ appointment could not have come at a better time.”
