Jersey Sport is today excited to kick off a big year for the organisation by announcing the creation of a new position to drive forward the work to inspire an active Jersey.
An Active Island Manager is being recruited to join the senior management team, taking on responsibility for a wide-ranging portfolio of programmes that have a positive impact on all islanders, with a particular focus on the least active.
The successful candidate will oversee the implementation of the Active Island theme in the draft “Inspiring an Active Jersey” strategy, working with multiple partners to foster the habit of being active, whether that be at home, in the workplace or elsewhere.
“It’s really exciting to be adding to our team right at the start of 2019 and this appointment will give us the opportunity to really progress our work in this area,” said Jersey Sport CEO Catriona McAllister.
“We want active living to be the social norm in Jersey, whatever your age and circumstances, and our Active Island Manager will be a real figurehead for tackling inactivity locally. They’ll line manage our adult and children’s programmes, plus the Active Referral scheme, but will also need to work across society and government departments to find new ways of encouraging islanders to be more active.
“We’re really looking for someone with a strong background in leading health programmes, with experience of health service delivery and physical activity programmes too. It’s going to be a vital role for Jersey Sport and Jersey as a whole and it’s a brilliant opportunity to be involved at the start of a really exciting journey.”
The deadline for applications is Monday 28th January 2019.
