Training and Workshops
Understanding Unconscious Bias

Details

Sponsored by Intertrust Group, this workshop provides insight, guidance and strategies to understand unconscious bias and how to ensure that its influence is reduced.

Unconscious bias is defined as prejudice in favour of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair. Unconscious bias can manifest in many ways, such as how we judge and evaluate others, or how we act toward members of different groups.

This UK Coaching accredited workshop provides insight into the different varieties of unconscious bias, which is influenced by our background, cultural environment, personal experiences and societal stereotypes. We may not even be aware we have some of these views or opinions, let alone how they can affect our behaviour and actions. Recognising our capacity to be involuntarily affected by it is the first step to overcoming it. The strategies that we can use to ensure that the influence of unconscious bias (sometimes called implicit bias) over our lives is reduced, will also be explored.
