SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund Tops £179,000 for 2025 with New Round of Awards

Thursday 4 December 2025

By Steven Anderson, Media and Communications Officer

Jersey Sport has awarded £45,000 to 17 local sport organisations through Round 2 of the 2025 SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund, bringing the fund’s total investment in island sport for the year to £179,000.

Supporting Growth Across Jersey’s Sporting Community

Launched in 2024, the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund was made possible by a generous legacy from the late Valerie Guy — a lasting gift that continues to inspire and strengthen Jersey’s sporting community.

The fund was established to help clubs, associations and organisations grow participation, enhance member experiences and improve long-term sustainability. Following the success of Round 1 earlier this year — which awarded more than £134,000 to 26 organisations — the second round continues to back projects that:

  • Remove barriers to participation
  • Develop volunteers and coaches
  • Improve facilities
  • Expand opportunities for islanders to lead active, healthy lives

Round 2: Successful Applicants

The 17 organisations receiving support through Round 2 are:

  • Jersey Gymnastics Club
  • Jersey Netball Association
  • Jersey Race Club
  • Jersey Touch Association
  • Jersey Triathlon Club
  • Jersey Volleyball Association
  • Jersey Wanderers Football Club
  • Padel For All
  • Riding for the Disabled Jersey
  • See Her Run
  • Tigers Swimming Club
  • Jersey Football Association

What Our Community Is Saying

Nathan Jegou, Head Coach of Calligo Tigers Swimming Club, said:

“Funding from Jersey Sport has been instrumental in upskilling our workforce and enabling our members to gain professional qualifications. It’s ensured we can operate safely through the NPLQ and deliver high-quality, up-to-date swimming lessons via ASA Level 1 and 2 courses.

With limited local training options, this support has been essential — and it also gives our young members the chance to gain internationally recognised qualifications that set them up for future success.”

Jon Le Fondre, Jersey Sport’s Grant and Sport Development Officer, said:

“We are delighted to award a further £45,000 through Round 2 of the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund. This year’s total distribution of £179,000 represents a significant investment in the Island’s sporting infrastructure and community programmes.

The high standard of applications demonstrates the passion and dedication of Jersey’s sport organisations, all working hard to widen participation and deliver safe, inclusive and enjoyable experiences for islanders of all ages.”
