SPRINGBOK – Performance Seminar
Jersey Sport, in partnership with Strive Academy, has obtained unique access to the Performance Department of the Rugby World Champions South Africa (‘The Springboks’) during their visit to Jersey. This means local coaches and athletes with a passion for performance can hear from Springbok Head of Performance, Andy Edwards, joined by other members of their staff, who will deliver a seminar on Friday 1 November at 16:00, at the Strive Academy.
Andy and his colleagues will give an insight into the current elite sporting landscape and highlight the key elements of what it takes to become an Olympic, Paralympic, non-Olympic or professional athlete.
Up to 60 places are available for the island sports community involved in the delivery of performance sports such as:
• Technical coaching
• Strength and conditioning
• Medical support, Injury prevention and rehabilitation
• Nutrition advice
• Psychology services and mental health support
• Other relevant upskilling and training of athletes
If you are a coach, administrator, athlete or parent of a current performance athlete then this event will offer you the opportunity to get first-hand knowledge, expertise and experience from those at the very pinnacle of performance sport.
Jersey Sport was commissioned by the Government of Jersey in August 2024 to design, administer and develop a Performance Sport Programme. It aims to deliver the ‘Enabling Athletes to Thrive’ Strategy which was published in November 2023.
Jersey Sport is committed to establishing and delivering a programme that inspires, supports and develops local sport organisations to produce and equip talented athletes, coaches and officials with the attributes and resources to pursue careers in professional or elite sports to international and world levels.
