Jersey Sport are delighted to be launching a new pilot fund on 1 May 2024, with thanks and gratitude to legacy monies left in the will of Valerie Guy.
The legacy money left to the organisation will be invested directly back into local sport and will help support the island’s sports organisations to build safe and sustainable sport offers which will allow more islanders to GET INVOLVED in sport within the island.
The SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund will be open for applications from 1- 31 May 2024 and aims to support Jersey-based sport organisations by activating plans, aligning resources, implementing change, and signalling direction to continue to inspire an active Jersey. This new fund has absorbed Jersey Sport’s Volunteer Workforce Grant, allowing sports organisations to apply for financial assistance towards the costs associated with workforce training, qualifications and upskilling through one central fund.
Steve Law, Interim Chair of Jersey Sport and Chair of the Grants Advisory Committee said, “As an independent registered charity, Jersey Sport are extremely grateful for the legacy money left us by the late Valerie Guy. Our mission is to inspire, lead and enable positive wellbeing for all through lifelong engagement with sport and physical activity, so significant donations like this help us to continue our work to support more islanders to GET INVOLVED in and continue to play local sport.”
To celebrate the launch of the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund, Jersey Sport are hosting an informal networking event on Wednesday 1 May 2024, from 18:00-19:30 at Highlands College.
Jersey Sport would advise sport organisations to come and chat to our team about their ideas before submitting an application to the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund and will also be holding a series of drop-in support sessions for sports to ask questions to understand more about the fund.
