Jersey Cricket were awarded £10,750 in 2024 to support the growth and development of community junior programmes through upgrades of existing cricket net lanes at Grainville. The initiative is expected to directly benefit around 150 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
Funding will support the development of a third net lane which will allow more islanders to access the sport through Jersey Cricket’s community programmes and local cricket club’s offers. The additional net lane will also attract high-level standard tournaments to the island due to the improved quality of the facility. Jersey Cricket have already raised £25,000 towards this project and Jersey Sport will support their efforts to source the remaining funds required to complete this project, expected to be delivered in time for the 2025 outdoor cricket season.
The new 3-lane net system was installed in March 2025 at Grainville, the home for cricket in Jersey. The facility is open for public community use and supports the development of junior and girls cricket provision through free access for local clubs, as well as senior international athletes and visiting teams.
