Head of Sport and Community

About Me
I am incredibly privileged to be the Head of Sport and Community at Jersey Sport, a role I have aspired to since joining the organisation in 2017.

Role & Responsibilities
I strategically lead the organisation while supporting our fantastic team in delivering programmes across the island. I work closely with sports organisations and the wider community and serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, helping guide the overall direction of Jersey Sport.

Career Journey
I began my journey in sport development as a Community Coach at 16 in 2014. After joining Jersey Sport in a zero-hours role following the organisation’s inception, I completed my university studies and returned as Physical Literacy Officer on a 9-month maternity cover contract in 2019. This role was extended, and in April 2020, I was promoted to the newly created position of Children and Schools Officer, overseeing all youth programme delivery until March 2023. I then took on the interim Head of Programmes role, managing delivery across the organisation. Following a restructure in April 2024, I was appointed Head of Sport and Community.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1st Class Degree in Sports Coaching

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead qualified

  • Channel Island Sports Coach of the Year 2023

  • Jersey Coach / Manager of the Year 2023

Philosophy / Approach
I am passionate about continuous learning and development—for myself, my team, and our programmes. I believe the best learning occurs in a safe, trusting environment that encourages risk-taking, and this is how I strive to lead every day.

Fun Facts / Personal Interests
In my spare time, you’ll likely find me at the side of a football pitch coaching the Jersey Bulls Men’s Team, or trying (and often failing) to navigate a golf course while losing multiple balls.

Why Jersey Sport / Achievements & Highlights
I am proud to have played a role in implementing the recommendations from the Government of Jersey’s Review of Sport in November 2023. This strengthened our relationship with government colleagues and allowed the development of new programmes, including the Performance Sport Programme and SPORTIN SCHOOLS, providing an additional £175,000 in support to local sport. There is still work to do on funding, and I look forward to continuing to lead efforts to secure vital resources for sport in Jersey.
