Jersey Sport seek a new Chair to lead their Board of Directors

Jersey Sport’s Interim Chair, Steve Law, is stepping down after 12 months. The organisation is now looking for an independent Non-Executive Director (NED) to lead the Jersey Sport Board as Chair.

The successful candidate will have NED responsibilities to Jersey Sport and will be responsible for leading the Jersey Sport Board, managing its overall performance including reporting and governance.

Jersey Sport is a registered charity, and arms-length organisation supported by the Government of Jersey, with the aim to make sport and physical activity more accessible for everyone. With Jersey’s Lieutenant-Governor, His Excellency Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE as Patron, Jersey Sport’s mission is to inspire, lead and enable positive wellbeing for all through lifelong engagement with sport and physical activity.

As Chair, the successful candidate must have a passion for developing sport and physical activity, working with a range of stakeholders, including the Government of Jersey and the island’s sporting community, to deliver sport and physical activity programmes and interventions. In addition, they will be responsible for the line management and performance of Jersey Sport’s Chief Executive.

The Jersey Sport Chair and Board of Directors are volunteers and are non-remunerated.

Lisa Mclauchlan, Non-Executive Director at Jersey Sport, said, “It is a very exciting time for Jersey Sport as we move ahead with a new Chief Executive and reinvigorated relationships with some of our key stakeholders. We are now seeking a Chair who brings with them a passion for sport and physical activity as well as extensive NED and board experience. Alongside leading the Board and acting as a guide to the Jersey Sport Senior Executive, the successful candidate will also need a strong grounding in strategic thinking, reporting and governance, as these are critical elements to the Board’s ongoing ability to help steer and support the Jersey Sport team.”
