As part of a series of events delivered for the Designated Safeguarding Lead Network for Sport, Jersey Sport are delighted to be working with the Government of Jersey (Building a Safer Community) and Safeguarding Partnership Jersey to deliver the third forum event of 2026, which focusses on Safer Recruitment for sport organisations.

The event aims to support the roles of Welfare Officers / Safeguarding Leads of local sport organisations and their work within community sport to implement safeguarding improvements in local sport.

The session will be delivered by Melanie Grandfield – a HR professional with more than 25 years’ experience. She spent six years working within the former Education, Sport and Culture Department, where she developed and implemented a Safer Recruitment policy and procedure, alongside delivering associated implementation training. Melanie is now the founder of High Tide HR Consultancy and continues to support organisations across the Island with Safer Recruitment. Melanie will design and deliver bespoke content tailored to the context of the sport sector, with a particular focus on applying safer recruitment measures when appointing volunteers. To help us ensure the session is as relevant and informative as possible, attendees are asked a few short questions during registration to aid Melanie’s workshop design.
