Performance Sport Programme 2027
Jersey Sport are delighted to be delivering the Performance Sport Programme in 2027 after its successful growth and reach over the last three years. Commissioned by the Government of Jersey to deliver the ‘Enabling Athletes to Thrive’ strategy (2023), the Programme is a performance system that enables Athletes, Coaches and Officials to achieve at their highest level.
The Performance Sport Programme has seen vast success since its launch in 2024, with Athletes representing and medalling for Jersey at Commonwealth Games, securing places on world class talent programmes, and representing Great Britain at international championships in five separate sports.
For 2027, Athletes’ performances are assessed and awarded against four newly revised criteria:
- Podium
- Podium Potential
- Talent Development
- Talent ID
Each level of criteria is driven by performance data to allow the Performance Sport Programme to support the island’s very best Athletes and give them maximum opportunity to succeed in their sport.
Since 2026, the Performance Sport Programme also supports performance Coaches and Officials as well as Athletes, by providing funding to access formal qualifications, off-island pathways and opportunities to access informal upskilling to bring expert knowledge and experience back to the island.
DETAILS OF THE PROGRAMME
Whilst the Performance Sport Programme is largely funding-based, it also supports Athletes, Coaches and Officials through a series of support services to help maximise their potential. Working closely with key partners and experienced industry practitioners, Jersey Sport are pleased to offer a multi-disciplinary support package that forms the service provision of the Performance Sport Programme.
