SUPPORTIN SPORT Funding 2026

APPLICATIONS FOR TRAVEL 2026 ARE OPEN 5 JANUARY – 1 FEBRUARY FOR SPORT ORGANISATIONS

We’re thrilled to announce the re-launch of our Travel funding for 2026— supporting sport organisation’s ability to strengthen opportunities for their athletes to compete and train off-island. The Travel funding aims to support the development of Jersey athletes and teams by providing financial support to access high-quality training and compete at advanced levels that Jersey cannot provide.

With up to £270,000 available, thanks to funding from the Government of Jersey, we’re committed to helping local sport organisations break barriers, broaden horizons, and showcase Jersey talent on bigger, off-island stages.

Whether athletes or teams are competing in higher-level competition or training development opportunities, this funding is here to support sport organisations in making off-island travel possible.

Who is it for?

Travel funding is available to:

√ Volunteer-led sport clubs, groups or organisations

√  Local sport governing bodies or associations

√  Profit-making sport or physical activity providers

These funding opportunities are not available to:

Χ Individuals

Χ Non-Jersey based organisations

Χ Local organisations who support individuals outside of Jersey

To be eligible to apply for Travel funding, all applicants must complete Jersey Sport’s Safe and Sustainable Sport Health Check:

Funding opportunities and application process

Travel funding supports local sport organisations by providing financial assistance toward off-island travel costs. Its aim is to help amateur athletes develop by enabling access to higher-level training and competition opportunities than what is available in Jersey.

What can be funded:

√ All funding must be used solely for the purposes of off-island sport travel during 2026. This can include the costs of Boats, Flights, Coaches, Car Hire, Trains, Accommodation etc.

√ Supported activities should be of a higher level of training or competition than is available on-island.

√ Travel should be deemed necessary to support the development of an athlete and team, with a clear alignment to a recognised pathway and/or development plan.

√ Athletes should be considered amateur athletes, who train or compete without renumeration from external sources, such as a professional contract.

√ Travel can support an appropriate number of individuals performing a necessary function, e.g. a coach, parent or chaperone travelling with a junior athlete who would be unable to travel alone.

What is not funded:

× Travel insurance costs

× Other travel requirements for sport (i.e. Coach upskilling or similar).

× Refreshments (i.e. Food and drink)

× Kit or clothing for travel

× Additional activities whilst travelling that are outside the scope of higher level of training or competition

× Backdated funding for travel completed in 2025 or earlier.
