Gracie Barra CI Jiu Jitsu Academy were awarded £15,825 in Round 1 of the 2025 fund, to support a new, inclusive jiu-jitsu facility and coaching development programme, which will expand access, safety, and participation across all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 300 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
This project aims to establish a fully inclusive, accessible jiu-jitsu training facility designed to serve a broad cross-section of the community, including underrepresented groups, disabled participants, and those from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. The new venue will feature step-free access, gender-inclusive changing and shower pods, fully matted training areas, and a welcoming reception to support community engagement and class expansion.
As part of the club’s mission—Jiu-jitsu for everyone—the project also includes supporting coaches, to attend an international training camp to enhance female engagement, tackle teenage drop-out among girls, and strengthen safe and inclusive coaching practices. The club is also committed to continuing school-based outreach, making martial arts more accessible to children across the Island.
