SUPPORTIN SPORT FUND
TIGERS SWIMMING CLUB

Tigers Swimming Club Jersey have been awarded £2,756 in 2024 to deliver workforce development opportunities for their coaches and lifeguards. The initiative is expected to directly benefit around 500 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.

The funding will provide a 50% contribution of associated costs to support essential on-island upskilling for local coaches and lifeguards. Tigers SCJ will be funding half of the remaining associated costs, passing on 25% of fees onto participants, so that these upskilling opportunities are more accessible for their workforce. The organisation aim to not only improve the quality of local coaching available to athletes, but also the sustainability of their offer as they upskill additional coaches and lifeguards as part of their succession planning efforts.

LATEST NEWS…

Jersey Sport are working closely with Tigers Swimming Club and other local aquatic sport organisations to facilitate the delivery of Swim England’s Level 1 & 2 Teachers Courses in Q3/Q4 2025. The delivery model will also look to upskill an on-island tutor to increase sustainability and reduce reliability on Swim England’s UK-based tutors.

To date, two lifeguards have been funded to gain their qualification, which is essential for the safe and accredited delivery of swimming lessons and coached sessions. A further 6 candidates will obtain their lifeguard qualifications in June 2025, funding a total of 8 candidates through Jersey Sport’s SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
