Round 1
The Jersey Cycling Association were awarded £9,005 in Round 1 of the 2025 fund, to provide enhancement to event safety, growing female participation, and training new coaches to strengthen the future of cycling on the Island. The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 400 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
To make cycling events in Jersey safer, more inclusive, and better supported, a series of projects are underway through the Jersey Cycling Association. Project 1 focuses on hiring toilet facilities and medical cover for races, addressing key safeguarding concerns and ensuring riders of all ages feel comfortable and protected throughout events across disciplines. Project 2 introduces a dedicated women-only coaching series aimed at increasing female participation by building confidence and skills in a supportive environment, with plans to expand to minority and beginner groups in future. Project 3 invests in the development of local coaching talent by funding Level 1 Cycling Coaching qualifications for eight new coaches, helping to grow capacity for youth and adult training sessions year-round. Collectively, these initiatives are designed to remove barriers, encourage participation, and build a stronger, more diverse cycling community on the island.
Round 2
The Jersey Cycling Association were awarded £2,843.75 in Round 2 of the 2025 fund, to provide support with the delivery for Ride Leaders and for amendments to the constitution.
The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 200 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
British Cycling Ride Leader Training:
This project will fund Ride Leader training for 10 volunteers, developing their skills in safety, inclusivity, and leadership. Trained leaders will expand community cycling opportunities, make group rides more accessible, and strengthen engagement at the grassroots level.
Constitution Amendment:
This project will amend the association’s constitution to remove the requirement for club affiliation to vote or participate in governance. The change will modernise decision-making, increase inclusivity, empower volunteers, and open opportunities for broader community involvement and sustainable growth.
