SUPPORTIN SPORT FUND
JERSEY WATER POLO ASSOCIATION

Jersey Water Polo Association (JWPA) were awarded £5,625 in Round 1 of the 2025 fund, to provide expansion of senior training and coach development to improve skills, support female participation, and ensure a sustainable future for water polo in Jersey. The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 100 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.

To support the growth and sustainability of water polo in Jersey, JWPA has introduced additional senior training sessions and is investing in coach development. The mixed weekly training sessions launched in 2024 have helped reduce teenage drop-off, encouraged greater participation from women and girls, and raised the overall skill level of the club. These sessions provide a natural transition pathway from junior to senior play and have proven especially valuable in preparing the women’s team for their first UK competition in Winchester. To ensure the future of the sport, JWPA is also seeking funding to upskill three volunteers through Swim England coaching qualifications, which will enhance technical delivery and allow for smaller, more effective coaching groups. Together, these initiatives aim to build a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable water polo community in Jersey.
