Round 1
Jersey Spartan Athletic Club (JSAC) were awarded £2,662 in Round 1 of the 2025 fund, to provide training for more coaches, which will allow the capacity reduce waiting lists, and grow participation. The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 450 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
To meet increasing demand and improve the quality of coaching provision, JSAC is committed to the continued upskilling of its volunteer coaches through external training and by bringing experienced specialists to the island, along with supporting travel off-island. The club currently is actively working to reduce their junior section waiting lists, along with manage an increase in adult road running and a need for specialist coaching areas. This can be addressed with more qualified coaches, achieved by bringing in expert coaches to upskill the local team and enhance the club’s overall offering.
Round 2
Jersey Spartan Athletic Club were awarded £2662.50, in Round 2 of the 2025 fund, to support a project to upskill volunteer coaches to increase the club’s capacity, enabling more islanders, especially juniors, to participate in athletics.
The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 450 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
This project focuses on developing the skills of volunteer coaches through training courses and support from experienced visiting coaches. By increasing the number of qualified coaches, the Club can reduce waiting lists and offer more opportunities for juniors and other islanders to participate in athletics. The initiative ensures safe, high-quality coaching while growing engagement and enjoyment in the sport across the community.
