JERSEY IRISH GAA
Jersey Irish GAA were awarded £2,500 in Round 1 of the 2025 fund, to provide floodlights to allow safe, year-round training, helping retain young players and improve session quality during darker months. The initiatives are expected to directly benefit over 45 participants through the award received by the SUPPORTIN SPORT Fund.
This grant will enable the installation of mobile floodlights at their training grounds, significantly improving the quality and safety of our evening sessions—especially during the darker, colder months. Currently, limited visibility restricts the club to basic sprint drills and prevents the running of full, effective training sessions, particularly on Tuesday evenings for adults and Thursday evenings for children. With proper lighting, this will enable the extension of the training season, reduce safety risks (such as lost balls or accidents). Importantly, this will help the Club retain children and teens who might otherwise drift to other sports with better facilities, ensuring they stay active, involved, and progressing in a supportive environment.
