JSAC Boxing Day Fancy Dress 10km →
The JSF is delighted to host its third athlete development conference in Jersey. This year we are excited to welcome an international superstar in physical literacy, athletic and sport development to Jersey, Kelvin Giles.
This is an extremely rare opportunity to hear Kelvin speak and learn his highly regarded Movement Competency Assessment (MCA) system for athletes.
As a former UK National and Olympic Track & Field Coach, Kelvin spent 30 years in Australia’s high performance sport environment. He was Head T&F Coach at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and Head of the Athletic Development department at the Queensland Academy of Sport in Brisbane. He spent 6 years at the helm of the Brisbane Broncos Rugby League team as Director of Performance and also led the Australian Rugby Union’s Elite Player Development section. He has coached 14 Olympic and World Championship athletes over a 40 year long career. He is currently CEO of Movement Dynamics UK Ltd and currently consults across a range of National Governing Bodies and Federations and is the author of the Physical Competence Assessment resources.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from this legend in sport. By the end of the day delegates will have learnt ‘first hand’ Kelvin’s philosophy on movement coaching, the theoretical underpinnings of the famous ‘Movement Competency Assessment’ and have had significant time practicing it under his watchful eye.
As a trained PE teacher and coach, Kelvin’s model is designed to fit in directly to PE curriculums, youth sport systems and help the fitness enthusiast move more efficiently. He will not only teach his MCA system, but also the pedagogy to coach it well. As such it will directly appeal to PE Teachers, Sports Coaches, Physiotherapists and people looking to ensure they move well.
This is certainly one not to be missed. Jersey is a unique destination, not only for sport education but also due to the uniqueness that it boasts. To maximise the experience delegates have previously combined their learning with a short holiday on the sunny island of Jersey.
