We are a small Bore shooting club located in the Parish of St Peter in Jersey.
We have two ranges that accommodate both .22 rifle and 10 meter Air rifle and pistol.
We shoot .22 rifle on a Tuesday evening 1900 till 2200, 10 meter air rifle on a Wednesday 1900 till 2200
The club also actively takes part in the island inter club weekly @@@@@
We shoot .22 rifles from the prone position at 15 and 25 yards at fixed electronic targets as well as 10 meter Air rifle and Pistol. The range is indoor and is behind St Peter’s Parish Hall opposite the Youth and Community Centre, St Peter, Jersey, Channel Islands.
Our club night is a Tuesday for .22 Rifle and Wednesday for 10m air, we shoot all year round but with a focus from September to April starting at 7.00pm due to participation in the inter club League matches held on a Thursday evening at the allotted club. Instruction and club equipment is available and we have a good selection of rifles, custom made shooting jackets and equipment to borrow.
Small-bore rifle shooting is a traditional sport where shooters shoot, mainly lying down, at targets that are 15 yards, 25 yards or 50 metres away (outdoor). The sport is about technique and training rather than focusing on firearms. The firearm is only one of the many tools that a shooter uses to hit the target, The rifles at Western are bolt action single shot target rifles and our sport only allows .22 calibre.
A 10 meter electronic Air range has recently been added to the clubs down stairs .22 range, this will follow on from the upstairs paper target range to develop the 10m air discipline within the club and open up more opportunities for shooters at Western.
We welcome all ages and abilities from 12 as well as new members, whether they have previous experience or not.
The club was founded in 1907, during the time between the Boer War and the First World War, when the Government of the day actively promoted the formation of shooting clubs. The club moved to its present site in 1968. Since then, the facilities have been improved and updated on a regular basis. The last major programme was a complete refurbishment of the clubhouse in 2015 which included the installation of electronic targets, and with a further development in 2024 with the inclusion of 10 meter targets for Air rifle and Pistol on the down stairs range.
