Regent Skating Club

Regent Skating Club aims to provide a safe environment for anyone aged 5 years and above, wishing to learn or improve their skills in artistic roller skating. The sport is similar to figure skating but where participants use quad roller skates instead of ice skates.

Skating is fun, great for posture and core strength and importantly for making friends. Some of our members skate ‘just for fun’ whilst some skate at national and international level.

Within artistic roller skating there are several disciplines:

  • figures (similar to compulsory or “school” figures on ice);
  • freestyle (individuals performing jumps and spins);
  • pairs;
  • dance (couple);
  • solo dance;
  • precision team skating;
  • show groups.

Regent Skating Club focuses on the dance discipline within the sport.

Progress is monitored through standard proficiency tests and once skaters are competent enough, if they want to, they can start to compete in on-island interclub competitions, open UK club competitions and UK national competitions.

In 2026 we celebrate our 50th year, having started rolling at Fort Regent, we now skate at Les Quennevais sports hall with over 60 members! Since 2001 some of our skaters have been selected to represent Great Britain at European and World competitions. New beginners sessions take place on Saturdays with skates available for hire.

Regent Skating Club is affiliated to GB Skate Artistic and complies with all policies as required, including the Safeguarding Policy details of which can be found here:
