When Archie (aged 7) one day asked us to show him a snooker table and was introduced to pool and had weekly lessons for over a year.
Archie’s teacher then put him in touch with Island Champion and 2024 Performance Athlete Aaron Canavan who has seen the potential in him. As there are no children playing snooker in Jersey Archie was encouraged to compete at regional tournaments in the south of England. These competitions were mostly Under 21 and at various levels, bronze, silver and gold. In three short years Archie has now progressed to gold having won three events on route. He has also entered national under 14 qualifying tournaments winning one in December 2023.
Now that Archie is playing at a higher level in the UK his focus now will be to challenge himself to winning national age group levels and raising his profile beyond the south of England. Currently Archie’s highest break is 67. Quite remarkable considering often he is on his tip-toes to reach the table.
