Head of Move More Jersey

Role within Jersey Sport: Cirsty’s role as Head of Move More Jersey is to lead the development and implementation of the Move More strategy – to promote active living in Jersey, reduce barriers to physical activity and bring about opportunities for more islanders to be more active, more often.

Previous employment before Jersey Sport: Cirsty has spent the last 9 years at Jersey Hospice Care progressing from initially working as a physiotherapist, to Day Hospice and Therapies Services Manager. In this role, she was responsible for the delivery of the day and therapy services at the Kings Centre. During her time at Jersey Hospice Care, Cirsty was instrumental in developing and delivering new service models, both within physiotherapy and the day services, including the setting up of the gym and regular exercise and symptom management groups.

Employment history: Cirsty has worked in the NHS, Jersey General Hospital and voluntary sector throughout her career as a Physiotherapist. This has included roles in a wide range of areas including rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, neurology, respiratory, acute medicine and latterly palliative care. She has developed a comprehensive understanding of the impact of illness and long term conditions on peoples everyday lives and how to support people to adapt their lifestyles to live with these conditions.

Cirsty has also got considerable experience working in outdoor leisure within the roles of dinghy instructor and as a regional co-ordinator for Christian Surfers UK/Europe.

High level / sports related qualifications: Cirsty graduated from University of Wales College of Medicine with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy in 2003. Cirsty has taken part in various sports throughout her life and holds a number of sports related qualifications in relation to sailing, cycling and swimming.

Hobbies: Cirsty is passionate about sport and active living and will more often or not be found out running or cycling. Cirsty gained a love for cycling at a young age when she cycled to school everyday no matter the weather! This love of being active has continued throughout her life and she has taken part regularly in various sports including rugby, football, sailing, swimming, surfing, stand up paddle boarding and more latterly running and triathlon. Her greatest achievements have been sailing across the Atlantic in 1999, running 4 half marathons and the London Marathon in 2018, having only started couch to 5K in 2017! Cirsty’s love for being active has also spilled over to her son – you will often see them out with Harry’s adaptive bike, at parkrun or training to compete in disability triathlons together!
