Physical Education Coach

Job Details

Jersey Sport’s Move More Physical Literacy and Schools programme aims to provide a high quality and quantity of sport and physical activity before school, after school and predominantly during Physical Education (PE) lessons within GoJ Primary Schools.

Through the medium of physical literacy, this programme will aim to deliver holistic PE which will cover a diverse and engaging curriculum, in line with the National Curriculum for Physical Education (NCPE) to meet the needs of the school. The PE Coach will be responsible for planning, alongside the schools PE lead, and delivering high quality physical literacy-based sessions, in accordance with the needs of the organisation and school. The PE Coach will also be responsible for collecting data related to their delivery which contribute to the organisation’s relevant KPIs.

As well as being able to demonstrate the core behaviours of the organisation and the specialist competences required of the role there are several specific tasks that will be routinely required of the post holder. In addition, the post holder is required to carry out any task necessary to ensure we continually deliver exceptional service to our customers. The job specific tasks are detailed below:

  1. Plan and deliver high quality physical education sessions, delivered through a physical literacy model, in conjunction with the National Curriculum for Physical Education, that engages participants and provides them with the confidence, competence and motivation to pursue future participation within sport and physical activity.
  2. Lead the collection of physical literacy data to measure progress of each individual pupil.
  3. Collect and report data to measure the programme’s performance against the organisation’s KPIs and associated SLA objectives.
  4. Ensure that all programmes are working in adherence to Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  5. Continually research best practice in physical literacy and education, making recommendations on the continual improvement of the scheme.
  6. Assist the organisation with any other relevant tasks as deemed appropriate by management, as and when required.
