Physical Activity Programmes Manager

Job Details

As Physical Activity Programmes Manager you will be instrumental in leading the physical activity agenda from early years to the senior community, as well as playing a pivotal role in the organisation embedding inclusivity throughout all our programmes and services.

A key role for the Physical Activity Programmes Manager is to build and manage strong and effective partnerships with medical professionals, referral organisations and partner providers, as well as, where appropriate, local sport organisations.

This role will work with the Programmes Officers to establish and promote active opportunities through collaborative work with Government, schools, charities, and the wider local community as well as embedding a culture of active living as a societal norm to promote good health and wellbeing.

To enable the above, the Physical Activity Programmes Manager will be instrumental in ensuring all Jersey Sport physical activity programmes are fit for purpose and that there remains a substantial and evidenced need within the community and the partnership agreement with Government.

As part of the wider team, you will also have a key role in the development of all business sections, supporting the work of other Officers and working collaboratively to develop their areas.

Main Responsibilities:

As well as being able to demonstrate the core behaviours of the organisation and the specialist competences required of the role, there are a number of specific tasks that will be routinely required of the post holder.  In addition, the post holder is required to carry out any task necessary to ensure the organisation continually delivers exceptional service to our customers. The job specific tasks are detailed below:

  1. Manage, coordinate and continuously improve the organisation’s engagement with local physical activity and sport providers, to ensure islanders have accessible pathways into inclusive opportunities.
  2. Manage, coordinate and continuously improve the organisation’s strategic involvement with GoJ with regards to Physical Activity, Active Travel and general Health and Wellbeing agendas.
  3. Positively contribute to the strategic management, leadership and direction of the organisation as appropriate and required.
  4. Oversee, lead and continuously retain and improve the organisation’s volunteer workforce through a robust programme of recruitment, development and recognition.
  5. Oversee, lead and continuously develop all of the Move More Referral offerings, including a restricted-access Pay-As-You-Go provision, to continually meet the needs of the public and any associated service level agreements.
  6. Oversee, lead and continuously develop all of the inclusion offerings, ensuring their alignment with pathways from all programmes and into local sport organisations and physical activity providers.
  7. Oversee, lead and continuously develop all of Jersey Sport’s Cycle based offerings, in particular School Cycling, ensuring their wider alignment with pathways from our programmes and into sports organisations.
  8. Oversee, lead and continuously develop all of Jersey Sport’s Running and Walking based offerings, ensuring their wider alignment with pathways from our Referral programme into sport.
  9. Oversee, lead and continuously develop all early years community engagement offerings ensuring their wider alignment with pathways from our programmes and into sport.
  10. Effectively manage, alongside the respective Officers, the financial budget, data collection and performance reporting related tasks for all Physical Activity Programmes.

Salary

Manager Band - £50,000 - £65,000 plus 10% Cash Pension Contribution
